Dear Tori,
Marking 25 years of a community event is certainly worth celebrating! For a quarter of a century, the Jefferson Chapter CZ of PEO, the women’s philanthropic education organization, has hosted a spring salad luncheon to raise funds for many worthy local projects. On Tuesday, May 15, the women will again serve up a variety of delicious salads amid great fellowship in the St. Joseph Parish Center and everyone is invited to attend!
Over the years, the women of Chapter CZ have donated the salads and their time to prepare and serve them for the greater good. Because education is a priority for the group, at the top of the list of donations is a $400 scholarship annually awarded to a non-traditional student, a woman seeking to re-start or finish her post-secondary studies with a particular vocational goal in mind.
In addition to providing scholarships, the chapter has chosen many other recipients of luncheon funds over the years including elementary reading programs, early learning centers in Jefferson and Churdan, high school programs, Genesis Development, Christian Action Resource Center (ARC), Adopt a Family and Shop with a Cop and many others.
PEO members themselves support Cottey College, a four-year liberal arts school for women owned by PEO International. Members also support educational loan funds, international peace scholarships, continuing education and other scholarships for women, all of which have helped make successful careers and more productive lives possible.
Chapter CZ members thank the community for its generous support of the event to provide over $25,000 to many local entities. All are welcome to attend the event, enjoy the food and fellowship and the good that happens as a result!
